Renewable Energy Live Feed

The Government of Yukon is committed to testing and demonstrating the benefits of renewable energy systems in our northern climate.

The Energy Solutions Centre is currently monitoring three renewable energy project sites:

  • Yukon College, Whitehorse campus – a hybrid 1.9 kW wind turbine and 1.5 kW photovoltaic (solar electric) system located on the ground.
  • Yukon Government Main Administration Building, Whitehorse – a 4.1 kW building-integrated photovoltaic system installed on the building's roof.
  • Northern Lights Centre, Watson Lake – a 4.0 kW building-integrated photovoltaic system installed on the roof of the Northern Lights Science and Space Centre in Watson Lake.

Each of these projects helps to educate and inform residents, building operators, inspectors, tradespeople and students about renewable energy technology and supports the long-term viability of renewable energy in Yukon.
